Senior softball players honored
Four Bonners Ferry High School softball players were recognized during Senior Day on Saturday, when the girls dropped a doubleheader to Priest River.
Seniors honored were third-baseman Desi Aitken for completing her fourth year on the team; centerfielder Kayla Miles for rounding out a 3-year career; infielder, catcher and outfielder Ellen Gatchell, who returned to the team after a year’s break; and foreign exchange student Nadine Kramer.

The second game started with a hard hit by Badger Sam Manley, who was thrown out at home plate. The Badgers however could not capitalize on other hits during the remaining innings and lost 18-2.
Defensively, Caitlin Clausen made a double play from center to second base. Shortstop Chelsea Taggart made consistent plays.
Gatchell stepped in from first base to cover catching after starters Katie Avery and Manley were injured in back-to-back innings. Gilbertson did not give up any walks and had 1 strikeout.
