Dona La Verne Schenck Worley

Dona La Verne Schenck Worley, 72, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Boundary County Nursing Home in Bonners Ferry.

A Mass of Christian burial was held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bonners Ferry. Internment followed at Grandview Cemetery.

Dona was born Nov. 27, 1935, in Helena, Mont., to Christopher George and Helen La Verne Smigaj Schenck.

Dona attended schools in Bonners Ferry and graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1953. Then she attended Sacred Heart School of Nursing from 1953 to 1954. Dona became a certified nursing assistant and worked at Boundary County Community Hospital for several years.

On May 26, 1959, she married Walter Worley at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bonners Ferry.

Dona had many hobbies including reading, flower gardening, knitting, stamp collecting and all things “bird.” She also loved working with and teaching 4-H groups.

Dona was a generous and warm-hearted soul, who gave much of her time and energy to her children. She was very proud of each of her children and grandchildren and loved to share their lives with everyone she knew.

Dona is survived by her husband in Bonners Ferry; daughters Theresa Barnett and her husband, Peter, of Martinez, Calif., and Dawn Barnard and her husband, Mark, of Moscow; sons Gary Worley and his wife, Monique, of Bonners Ferry, Brian Worley and his wife, Lyla, of Philomath, Ore., and Jeff Worley and his wife, Selina, of Spokane, Wash.; grandchildren Michael, Carrie, Allison, Jennifer, Laura, Matthew, Michaela, Cheyenne, Sarah, Andrew, Morgan, Victoria, Katherine and Rachel; and seven great-grandchildren.

Dona was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Clifton George Schenck; and grandson, Brent Anthony Worley.

The family suggests memorials be made to Boundary County Hospital Extended Care Facility.
