AmeriCorps recognizes Pam Moe's efforts
The second annual AmeriCorps Week, which takes place May 11 to 18 will recognize over a half-million AmeriCorps members, who have made the commitment to “get things done for America” and dedicated their lives to serving their communities.
It’s hard to exaggerate how much stronger our state and our nation are today as a result of the contributions of hundreds of AmeriCorps members, who have served Idaho communities since 1994. In those 13 years, 578 Lewis-Clark Service Corps AmeriCorps members have:
• Tutored 84,140 academically at-risk students from grades 1-12 through adult.
• Provided career assistance to 11,165 students.
• Helped 1,203 adults receive their GED.
• Recruited 4,701 volunteers to provide ongoing tutoring and mentoring.
• Recruited 14,172 community volunteers who served 33,817 hours meeting compelling community needs.
In the last year, 60 agencies hosted 73 AmeriCorps members in communities from Bonners Ferry to Rexburg.
Please take a moment to recognize a dedicated member serving in Bonners Ferry. She is Pam Moe at Valley View Elementary School.
If you’re interested in serving your country, but the military isn’t for you, I urge you to check into AmeriCorps by visiting our Web site at www.lcsc.edu/americorps.
