Anderson vows to continue tackling Idaho's problems
Idahoans cannot expect to solve today’s problems with yesterday’s solutions. For starters we must:
• Continue to support our natural resource industries while looking for other ways to expand our economy.
• Find new approaches to keeping energy rates low.
• Seek out new funding sources for education, aside from raising taxes.
I am running for re-election for District 1-A to continue efforts to find new ways of dealing with these long-standing problems.
The points that I highlighted were addressed in House Bill 500, which I sponsored during this year’s session. HB 500 opens Idaho’s endowment lands for capture of renewable energy such as wind, geothermal, solar and especially the use of woody biomass generation in North Idaho.
The power generated could be used to serve Idaho’s energy needs to infinity. As a big bonus, development of those new energy sources could be an attractive new funding source for our schools. I was pleased that HB 500 received overwhelming support in the Legislature and Governor Otter signed the bill. But we can’t stop there.
North Idaho is a prime location for the film industry and I want to promote it as such. I will continue supporting initiatives to improve the climate for all businesses, large and small.
North Idaho is the greatest place in the world to live, work and raise a family and I want to keep it that way. I ask for your vote on May 27.
