Forrest C. Drake

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, May 25, at Porthill Cemetery for Forrest C. Drake.

Lunch will follow at Copeland Hall.

Forrest, 84, died peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at Boundary Community Hospital from complications related to pneumonia and his heart.

He was born March 13, 1923, in Fairview, Mont., to Frank and Marie Drake of Bonners Ferry; Forrest was one of nine children.

His family moved from Charb-oneau, N.D., to Bonners Ferry in 1937.

Forrest graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1941.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served for four years.

After the Navy, Forrest joined the family logging business.

He married the former Millie Fox. They raised children Adrian, Paula, Susie and Jon.

Forrest’s career followed the path to truck driving, including owning trucks. He drove for 45 years without a single traffic ticket.

Forrest was man with a quick sense of humor, keen mind, and love and passion for animals and children. He will be missed by many including his brother Vern, sisters Irene and Aggie, caring friends Ruth Ann and Jim, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Forrest was preceded in death by his dear wife, parents and brothers Sidney, Darwood, Herman, Harvey and Bill.
