Memorial Day Parade set for May 26

| May 23, 2008 9:00 PM

This year's Memorial Day Parade and services are Monday, May 26.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind the community of the schedule of events. The parade will start promptly at 10 a.m. The parade will proceed from the fairgrounds to Main Street.

All parade participants are urged to be at the fairgrounds between 9:15 and 9:30 a.m.

Immediately following the parade will be the services at Grandview Cemetery. The speaker will be Jake Sanders, a sixth-grade teacher at the middle school. Sanders is a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and is an excellent speaker.

On Friday, May 23, each veteran buried at Grandview and all our outlying cemeteries will have an American flag placed on their graves. If anyone would like to take part in the placing of those flags at Grandview, please come and assist in that effort at 6 p.m.

Please feel free to contact either Gil Hagen at 267-3514 or Mike Ashby at 267-5135 if you have any questions regarding the Memorial Day event.

On behalf of the American Legion, Boundary Post No. 55, I would like to say 'thank you' to all those who make this yearly event successful. Boundary County truly honors her veterans.
