Well, I do believe it is now safe to say that the last day for students is June 5 for grades kindergarten through fifth and June 6 for students in seventh through 12th grades.

This year will mark the end of the careers for Lynne Arnold-Secretary, who worked for 13 years as a secretary; Harvey Brannigan, a sixth-grade teacher who spent 27 years in the district; Lura Dinning, with food services for 15 years; Carrick Remaley, a high school math teacher for 26 years; and Brenda Walter, an English teacher and curriculum coordinator who spent 26 years in the district.

Congratulations to the graduates of Bonners Ferry and Riverside high school classes of 2008. Bonners Ferry High School graduation will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 31, outside or in the Boundary Middle School gym with approximately 100 graduates. Riverside High School graduation is 4 p.m. Friday, May 30, at the Lutheran Church with six graduates.

The 2008-09 school calendar has been approved by the board of trustees and will be posted on the schools Web site. School will begin Sept. 2 for all students. Teacher in-service will be the week before the opening of school.

Before the end of the school year, I would like to thank the parents, students, teachers and administrators for making the 2007-08 school year a great success.

Dr. Don Bartling is superintendent for Boundary County School District.
