Nine types of intelligence
Did you know there are nine types of intelligence? They are linguistic, logical-mathematical, bodily-kinesthetic, spatial, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalist and existential.
Psychologist Howard Gardner has identified these distinct types of intelligence in his Multiple Intelligences Theory. See http://professorlamp.com/ed/TAG/7_Intelligences.html.
He has done this in an effort to bring credence to each of our gifts in raising our children and working with one another — as well as finding value within ourselves.
There is no such thing as a “seemingly” intelligent person, but there are various degrees of intellect based on experience, genetics and a willingness to grow.
In this endeavor of living life to the fullest, we have all made mistakes. Then there are times when we’ve merely been led to wonder if we’ve made a mistake due to another’s perspective and motivation.
May I suggest that when presented with a choice of significant consequence, you engage in research and good old fashioned conversation with everyone and anyone who embodies one or more of these nine types of intelligence.
Sometimes that requires us to step outside of our comfort zone; but since we are all in this together, the only real zone that matters is the one we call Earth. Without it, we won’t have resources to manage wisely — as so many people I know strive to do — let alone various forms of recreation from which we garner so much joy, peace and ultimate wisdom.
