More than 200 items, including six VIP tickets to the Washington State University versus University of Washington Apple Cup, will be offered during the 11th Annual Mt. Hall Auction Saturday, Nov. 15.

Money raised from the auction, which begins at noon at the school, will be split between Bonners Ferry and Riverside high schools, Boundary County Middle School and Naples, Evergreen, Valley View and Mt. Hall elementary schools.

Last year’s auction raised a record-breaking $68,000, surpassing the previous high of $50,000.

Sherry Zimmerman, outgoing president and secretary for Mt. Hall Auction, said she doesn’t expect the event to raise as much money this year.

“This year, with the economy being what it is, if we can do $40,000 to $50,000, we’d be really ecstatic to make that kind of money,” Zimmerman said.

In addition, resident Marty Becker, who is the official veterinarian for ABC’s “Good Morning America,” is not as involved with the auction this year. Becker, whose children have graduated from Boundary County School District, had the connections to get things like tickets to American Idol, which sold for $210 last year. Becker also obtained four VIP tickets to a Los Angeles Lakers game, which went for $625.

“We haven’t seen any of those this year yet,” Zimmerman said. “I’m not sure what Marty will come up with next week. He always manages to come up with something.”

Other items on the auction block will include a two-night, mid-week stay at Montana’s Fairmont Hot Springs, a night’s stay for two in the Premier Lake Room at Coeur d’Alene Resort, overnight accommodations at Kootenai River Inn and an introductory flight from Northern Air at Boundary County Airport.

Also up for sale will be one pizza a week for a year from Papa Murphy’s, autographed sports memorabilia, gift certificates, gift baskets, a log bed and pet supplies.

Fifth- and sixth-grade teachers George Hays and Dave Gause will serve as auctioneers.

Badger Booster Club will serve pulled pork sandwiches and desserts. Mt. Hall Booster Club will serve drinks and snacks.
