Hiatt named assistant coach in Utah
Bonners Ferry native Adam Hiatt will serve as assistant coach for the men’s basketball team at Westminster College in Salt Lake City.
Hiatt, who played for Tommy Connor at Westminster, was an assistant coach at University of Idaho.
“I am very excited to have Adam return to Westminster as an assistant basketball coach,” Connor said. “He was one of the best student-athletes that has been part of our basketball program. Adam will bring the same work ethic, integrity, and enthusiasm he demonstrated as a player to our coaching staff and team.”
A 1997 Bonners Ferry High School graduate, Hiatt served an LDS mission in Argentina from 1998 to 2000. Upon his return, Hiatt played two seasons at Ricks College (BYU-Idaho) where he led his teams in scoring and was twice named All-Region XVIII.
Hiatt then accepted an offer to play for Connor at Westminster, where he earned a bachelor’s in history in 2004. During his time at Westmin-ster, Hiatt was part of two Frontier Conference championships and was twice named to the Frontier Conference First Team, in addition to being a two-time NAIA All-America selection.
During his senior season, Hiatt led the conference in scoring and helped his team reach the “Sweet Sixteen” at the NAIA National Tournament.
After Westminster, he attended graduate school at Brigham Young University, where he earned a master’s in cultural/historical geography in 2006. Hiatt then joined the University of Idaho’s coaching staff, where he helped the Vandals transition into the highly competitive Western Athletic Conference.
Hiatt and his wife, Jenica, have a daughter, Addelei.
