Carl William Becker

Carl William Becker, 79, passed away Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, at his home near Moyie Springs.

Services will be announced at a later date.

Carl had been a resident of Boundary County since 1955.

He worked in the timber industry until 1991, when he retired from the WI mill.

Carl served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He and his wife, the former Arlysse Kelley, married Oct. 13, 1950, in Northome, Minn.

They raised two children, both of whom graduated from high school in the early 1970s. Their son, Bill, passed away Oct. 29, 2007. Their daughter, Linda, returned to the county after living in Colorado Springs, Colo., for 34 years.

Carl enjoyed working with his hands, creating wind chimes and whirly gigs. He also enjoyed fishing; smoking fish was his great talent.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years; daughter Linda Becker of Moyie Springs; brother Leonard Becker of Wisconsin; sister Erma Johnson of Wisconsin; grandchildren Cassandria Schleif and her husband, Alan, and Jason Hendricks and his wife, Rosie; and great-grandchildren Nicholas, Zachary, Ronin, Lorenzo, Rio and Tatiana.

He also was preceded in death by brothers Lorenz and Hugo and a sister, Wilhelmina.

In lieu of flowers or cards, the family suggests memorials be sent to Hospice, P.O. Box 1448, Sandpoint, Idaho, 83864.
