Bonners Ferry goes 2-3 during Lakeland tourney

Bonners Ferry High School volley ball team went 2-3 during the Lakeland Tournament on Saturday.

“(It was a) big improvement for the Badgers in every aspect of the game,” said head coach Janis Tucker. “(There were) reduced serving errors and hitting errors. Passing was much improved as well. (The) Badgers played with much more confidence and fire as compared to the previous games that week.”

The Lady Badgers lost to Mead 15-25 and 16-25 and then dropped to Lewiston 25-21, 23-25 and 16-18.

In the game against Lewiston, Ashley Winkelseth had 11 kills and Hayley Olson made 13 assists and 2 aces.

The Lady Badgers then fell to Pullman 25-21, 20-25 and 11-15. Michaela Dirks made 9 kills, Olson had 18 assists and Tana Schneider made 2 aces

Bonners Ferry bounced back, defeating Timberlake 20-25, 25-18 and 15-10. Winkelseth made 11 kills, Olson had 13 assists and Katie Pluid made 2 aces

Finally, the Lady Badgers defeated Deer Park 25-18 and 25-12. Winkelseth made 7 kills and 4 ace serves, while Olson added 8 assists.

In other action, the Lady Badgers lost last week to St. Maries. Match results included 11-25, 15-25 and 21-25.

The girls also lost to Newport on Tuesday, 14-25, 19-25 and 16-25.
