Bulls of Terror Saturday at fairgrounds

| September 18, 2008 9:00 PM

The Bulls of Terror will debut at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Boundary County Fairgrounds.

Tickets for the professional bull-riding and barrel racing event are $10 for anyone age 12 and older, $5 for youngsters 6 to 11 and free for anyone 5 and under.

Selkirk Saddle Club, which annually hosts the Kootenai River Rodeo in Bonners Ferry, will put on Bulls of Terror. Members of the Professional Bull Riders Association from throughout the Northwest will compete on the same bulls featured during Kootenai River Rodeo in June, said Barb Robertson, a member of Selkirk Saddle Club.

Among professional barrel racers will be Becky Calderone of Bonners Ferry.

In addition to two groups of professional barrel racers, there will be novice barrel racers.

“They will mostly consist of local people,” Robertson said. “We have a couple from Sandpoint and a gal from Newport.”

Closer to home, barrel racers expected for the novice division are Casey Wyatt, Paula Nelson, Mikaila Wilson, TeAta Montgomery and Charlie Bennett.

“It’s terribly exciting to watch the bulls,” Robertson said. “If anyone has ever been involved in barrel racing, it’s fun to watch and it’s great to watch local people compete.”
