Cross country team faces tough opponents at Silverwood Invite

Bonners Ferry girls placed 15th and the boys team took 17th during the Silverwood Invitational cross country meet on Saturday.

Leading the Lady Badgers was Erin Hiatt, who placed 30th in a field of 135 representing 24 school districts. Hiatt completed the race in 21:02. Kinsey Gomez of Coeur d’Alene won in 18:19.9.

Also placing for the Lady Badgers were Molly McClintock, 62nd in 22:19.2; Lorena LaBarbera, 113th in 25:28.8; Katrina Svec, 121st in 26:04.7; Amy Elliott, 123rd at 26:22.2; Katy Hiatt, 127th in 27:39.1; and Katie Winebark, 135th in 29:02.8.

In the junior varsity race, Cassie Stephens took 124th with a run of 29:00 and Ami Dittman placed 153rd with a run of 32:24.

For the boys, Zach Hammond led with a 68th-place finish in 18:25.5. Cody Helbling of Lake City won the race in 15:47.4.

Others who placed for Bonners Ferry were Jimmy Matthews, 84th in 18:48.3; Micah Krmpotich, 88th in 18:53.4; Greg Taggart, 129th in 20:10; Reid Boorman, 131st in 20:14.8; and Nathan Grow, 160th in 24:31.6.
