A Bonners Ferry man will not see any jail time for breaking into two vehicles as long as he graduates from high school.

Chris B. Jones, 18, broke into two vehicles on June 11 in the Bonners Ferry city parking lot.

As part of last week’s sentencing, Jones was placed on probation for five years. One term of that probation is that he must complete high school in Bonners Ferry. If he drops out or gets kicked out of high school, Jones could serve all two to four years of his suspended prison sentence.

“I believe a high school education will be very useful for you,” District Judge James R. Michaud told Jones, who is a 10th-grade student at Riverside High School in Bonners Ferry.
