Sister appreciated kindness

| September 18, 2008 9:00 PM

My sister, Gladys Johnson Hunsaker, and I were born and raised in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

We attended local schools and graduated with our respective classes — she in 1966 and I in 1969. We then moved away from this great community, moving on with our lives. She attended all her class reunions, as well as, all of the All-School Reunions.

Members of the Class of 1966 realized at the 40th reunion, in 2006, she would not be returning in the future, and classmates spent time visiting with her, sharing memories. Even though Gladys couldn’t speak about everyone that visited with her, her eyes showed her family how happy she was to have attended.

After she returned home to Milton, Wash., cards arrived from classmates, thanking her for coming and sharing another reunion with them. Tears rolled from family members hearing and sharing these cards with Gladys. Gladys passed away on Aug. 20, 2008, quietly in her home.

The Bonners Ferry community can be proud of the alumni this community has sent out into our country. From the changes over the years, from small community to big time corporations infiltrating every corner of the market with no regard for the little person. Alumni return home to reunions still with the warm regards they learned to live by in the halls of BFHS.
