Girls Soccer Team defeat Priest River

Bonners Ferry High School girls soccer team defeated Priest River 7-0 on Tuesday and St. Maries 3-1 on Saturday.

The victories over both Intermountain Mountain League teams gives the Lady Badgers a 6-1 league record. It was the second time Bonners defeated Priest River and St. Maries this year.

Against Priest River, Bonners Ferry outshot the Spartans 20 to 2.

'The Badgers' hussle paid off for a sixth league win,' said head coach John Lindberg.

Brianna Watt had a season-high 4 goals, scoring in the 7th, 40th, 41st and 59th minute.

Kendra Johnson scored in the 50th and 71st minute, while Emily Pauls' lone goal came in the 70th minute.

For the season, Johnson has 20 goals and 10 assists. Watt has tallied 14 goals with 5 assists and Pauls has added 5 goals with 6 assists.

During the game against St. Maries, Johnson scored a goal at minute 10 with an assist by Watt.

Opening the second 40-minute half saw a repeat goal by Johnson at the 46th minute with an assist by Pauls.

Watt finished the game's goal at the 61st minute with an assist by Johnson.

The Lady Badgers had 10 shots-on-goal while St. Maries had four.

'Junior Badgers Kira Wasmer, Sam Schmitz and Emily Pauls along with sophomore Amy Andrews and freshmen Kendra Neumeyer and Hailey Pruitt each had outstanding plays,' Lindberg said. 'Co-captains Kendra Johnson and Rachel Pruitt provided the team's stability.
