Moscow Edges Badgers 2 to 1 in Boys Soccer Opener

Ian Engebretson converted a loose ball in the 71st minute Saturday to give the Moscow Bears a    2-1  win over the Bonners Ferry Badgers in the season opener for both teams in Moscow.

 Kyle Peterson opened the scoring for Moscow in the 2nd minute of play after controlling a pass from the right side, giving the Bears a 1-0 lead. 

Bonners Ferry countered with a goal by sophomore forward Andre Zarate in the 15th minute. 

Zarate’s 18-yard shot came after a nice crossing pass from sophomore midfielder Hayden Wakkinen. 

The Badgers played evenly with the 4A Bears throughout most of the contest.  Moscow outshot Bonners 13-6.

The Badgers play today at 5 p.m. in Coeur d’ Alene and 2 p.m.  Saturday, Aug. 29 in Orofino.
