Electrical fire guts consignment store
City of Bonners Ferry Fire Chief Pat Warkentin said an electrical problem resulted in a fire at Sequels Consignment Store in Bonners Ferry Sunday.
"The fire was not intentional and was accidental," said Warkentin.
According to Warkentin none of the merchandise was salvageable in the store located at 6389 Kootenai St.
"The call came at approximately 2:30 p.m.,"said Warkentin. "It had been burning inside for some time but had not yet vented to the exterior of the building."
According to Warkentin the smell of smoke can be detected in The Groove Studio building next door.
Firefighters Dave Winey and Davey Jones did the investigation for the City of Bonners Ferry Fire Department and determined the fire was electrical in nature.
"We were able to salvage the computer which held the customer data base and that was about the only thing saved in the whole place," said Warkentin.
All the interior finish was burned according to Warkentin and he said it looks as though it can be broken down and repaired fairly quickly.
