A Bonners Ferry woman who pled guilty to possession of crystal methamphetamine was sentenced on Tuesday to 30 days in Boundary County Jail.

Lynn Hardwick, 52,  also received a 2 to 4-year suspended prison sentence will pay $500 in fines and be placed on three years probation.

Hardwick told police she had taken the meth from a neighbor who she felt was addicted to the drug  with the intent to help the woman.  According to court records Hardwick placed the drug in a drawer at her house and forgot about it until police searched her home on Feb. 19 and found it.

Hardwick expressed to the court that she did slip and used the meth she confiscated from her neighbor but that she has been drug free for years prior to the relapse.

Judge Patrick Luster allowed a request by Hardwick to report to Boundary County Jail to serve her sentence on Tuesday, Dec. 15.
