Two Bonners Ferry High School wrestlers were one match from placing during last weekend’s Tri-State Tournament finals at North Idaho College.

They were Trevor Hampton at 140 pounds and Blaine Invernon at 103.

“We didn’t get any places,” said Badger coach Conrad Garner. “It was a very, very intense (match).”

Wrestling teams from Washington state took the top four spots at the tournament, which included 54 schools from Washington, Idaho, Montana and Oregon.

Lake Stevens defended its team championship, followed by University of Spokane, Tahoma of Maple Valley and Orting.

Lake Stevens, University and Tahoma are all Class 4A, while Orting is Class 1A.

Orting had three wrestlers in the finals. Antonio Brown (125) and Taylor Meeks (189) won individual titles. The Cardinals had six placers.
