South Boundary fire chief could go to Paradise Valley
Sixteen percent unemployment and more people on food stamps, and yet Tony Rohrwasser, fire chief of Naples fire house, gets most of the $49,600 budgeted annually for personnel, according to South Boundary Fire District Commissioner Jerry Howell. ($6,000 of that $49,600 goes to volunteer firefighters).
He has a full-time company truck plus company gas, which is over one-third of the fire house budget.
Seeing that Paradise Valley fire house has new commissioners putting reality on fire chief’s pay, I don’t know why Naples commissioners are sitting on their hands. They should be adjusting the fire chief’s pay; $15,000 to $20,000 is more than enough pay for that job. I feel as a taxpayer that I am being milked.
Here is a heads up. Tony Rohrwasser does not live in the South Boundary Fire Protection District. He lives in Paradise Valley District.
Seeing that Paradise Valley Fire District may be looking for a fire chief, Tony Rohrwasser could go over there and apply, which will leave the door open for a new fire chief in Naples.
Then the Naples fire commissioners can make the financial adjustment and have a fire chief’s pay that makes more sense.
