The Kellogg girls’ basketball team snuck past Bonners Ferry 33-31, taking home its first Intermountain League win.

In the final minute of the fourth quarter, with the game knotted at 31, Kellogg senior guard Ryder Ashcraft threaded a pass to senior Hailey Fuller, who had gained position in the low post. Fuller tried for a basket, but was fouled by a Badger defender, sending her to the free throw line — where she calmly knocked down a pair of shots, giving Kellogg the lead.

With plenty of time remaining, the Lady Badgers tried moving the ball down court for a game-winning play, but staunch Kellogg defense rattled the Badgers, and the Wildcats came up with a crucial steal. The clock expired as Kellogg secured a two-point IML victory.

Bonners Ferry held a 17-6 lead after eight minutes into the game. The Wildcats posted six points in the second frame and limited the Lady Badgers to just three.

At half-time, Bonners led 20-12, but Kellogg netted 10 points in the third. An 11-point Wildcat outburst in the final period set the table for Fuller’s clutch free throws.

Erin Hiatt scored a team-high 11 points for Bonners.
