Bonners Ferry native Theron Wages has been appointed to Boundary Community Hospital Board of Trustees.

Wages replaces Dean Miller, who for 18 years served on the board for the county-owned hospital before retiring in January.

Boundary County commissioners recently approved Wages’ appointment to the volunteer board. Eldon Koon, chairman for the hospital trustees, nominated Wages.

“Theron was looking to serve the community in some volunteer capacity,” Koon said. “He has shown interest in the hospital and is a very intelligent individual.”

Wages said he was honored to be asked to serve.

“I suppose I can’t think of a better cause around Bonners Ferry,” Wages said about his interest in the position. “I think we have a great hospital and I’m looking forward to helping it stay great.”

A 1982 graduate of Bonners Ferry High School, Wages received a degree in architecture from the University of Idaho in Moscow. He owns Theron Wages Design Build.

His father, the late J.B. Wages, also served on the board of trustees, including as chairman, Koon said.

Wages’ wife, Judy, teaches biology at Bonners Ferry High School. They are the parents of Belle, 13, and Lauren, 10.

“I think the community is lucky to have the facility they have, and for the short amount of time I’ve worked with the people, I can tell they know their stuff and are very dedicated and knowledgeable,” Wages said.
