Bonners Ferry High School Junior Erin Hiatt scored a total of 42 points during the last three  games,  two of which the Badgers won.

Bonners Ferry defeated Orofino 49-27 and St. Maries 53-47 before losing to Priest River 51-47.

At home Tuesday against Priest River, the Badgers held the lead throughout three quarters.  In the fourth, the Spartans outscored the Badgers 20-14 for a final score of 51-47.

“We focused on Stewart and Hopkins (from Priest River) and they still had 40 points between the two of them, said Coach Travis Hinthorn. “We obviously need to make some changes and try something different next time.”

At St. Maries on Saturday, senior Alicia Hedrick led with 14 points. Hiatt added 13 points and 9 rebounds. Senior Ashley Winkelseth added 11 points and 9 rebounds. The Badgers built up a 16-point lead 3 minutes into the game. Bonners held off a strong comeback by St. Maries, holding on to the lead to win by 6 points.

“We need to relax and finish better, especially with a large lead,” said Hinthorn.

At Orofino on Friday, the Badgers were initially down 10-2.  The Badger girls turned it around by the second quarter, leading 15-1 and finished with a 49-27 victory.  Hiatt had 19 points including  four, 3-pointers and 6 rebounds. Junior Emily Pauls had 8 assists.
