Moose Madness

| January 15, 2009 8:00 PM

Today, Jan. 15, is the last day to buy advance tickets for the Bonners Ferry High School home boys and girls basketball games on Saturday, Jan. 17.

Tickets will be sold until 4:20 p.m. at the high school office.

The evening will involve testing spirit between Bonners Ferry and Sandpoint High School basketball teams and fans. The two schools will battle it during a variety of contests for what will be the first-ever Moose Madness. The winning school for the charity benefit will receive a pair of moose antlers mounted on a plaque for one year.

Bonners Ferry will have one-half of the gym available for fans, which is about 490 seats. Because the games are a fundraiser, no passes will be honored. Admission is $5. Children under 6 and senior citizens will be admitted free.

It’s hoped that Moose Madness will become an annual event between the Badgers and Bulldogs.

Competitions will be based on school and community spirit; good sportsmanship shown by the players, coaches, and fans; and several activities that will take place during the half-time of each game.

Events may include a moose-calling competition, and competitions between the schools’ dance teams and cheerleaders.

One of the competitions is to see which school has the most fans wearing their school colors. Bonners Ferry has had blue and white “Welcome to the Badger Den” T-shirts designed for this event. They can be purchased for $5 at the high school.

Moose Madness is also a fundraiser for a local charity. A check will be presented to a charity during half-time of the boys’ game.
