Monday the second annual Fill the Bus day collected more food than last year’s event.

Pam Moe of the Lewis & Clark Service Corps, AmeriCorps Service,  hosted the event.

“We collected more food this year and $485; the project was a great success,” said Moe.”A big part of the success was the amount of people willing to donate and the diverse group of volunteers we had.”

Donations were taken to Action Community Partnership food bank in Bonners Ferry.

The Bonners Ferry High School Varsity and Junior Varsity boys basketball team, students from Echo Springs and local elementary schools, current and retired teachers, and parents were among the 62 volunteers.

“They helped load and unload the bus and furniture truck, and they passed out flyers at both of the grocery stores in town asking people to donate,” Moe said.

“I just want to thank Boundary Trading Company and Safeway for allowing us to collect all our donations at their stores,” Moe said.
