Bonners Ferry High School Senior Jamie Greensky led the girls basketball team with 11 points to beat Kellogg 49-26 at home Tuesday.

“We did a great job defensively in the first half holding them (Kellogg) to 13 points;  we took good shots, we just couldn’t get them to drop,” said Coach Travis Hinthorn.

Bonners Ferry shot 5 of 34 in the first half and 11 of 28 in the second.

“In the second half we still played good defense and started making some shots to pull away,” said Hinthorn. “Jamie is playing better; she is controlling the ball and shooting better, defensively she anticipates well and battles.”

Junior Erin Hiatt led with 17 points and senior Alicia Hedrick added 12 points for the Badger win  over Sandpoint on Saturday during Moose Madness at home.  The final score was  56-23.

“Erin is starting to play very well,” said Hinthorn. “She is under control, shooting better, and never gets tired; if she is playing well, it is hard to get her off the court.”

The team led off 12-2 in the first quarter and continued the lead to victory.

Hinthorn was pleased with the more than 1,100 who attended Moose Madness on Saturday.

“Wow what a crowd,”  Hinthorn said,  “It’s great for the girls to play in an environment like that. “

The girls really appreciated the sold-out game and fed off of the crowd.”
