Badgers Boys Basketball
Bonners Ferry 5-foot-9 senior Miguel Mendez led the Badgers to a 56-49 victory over Timberlake, scoring 15 points during Saturday’s home Intermountain League game.
The Badgers on Tuesday night lost 38-35 to Kellogg in another league game. Bonners Ferry is 2-7 overall and 1-2 in the League.
Against Timberlake, 6-foot junior Rob Gust scored 11 points, while 6-foot-1 senior Aaron Hoisington went 6-for-8 from the foul line.
Scoring one 3-pointer each were Gust, 5-foot-11 senior Dillon Deitz and 5-foot-9 junior Jacob Parker.
Bonners Ferry took at 15-6 lead in the first quarter, but finished the first half 1 point behind Timberlake.
The Badgers scored 22 in the third quarter and 7 in the fourth to hold onto the win.
“The chemistry was good and we kind of took a step forward, where we want to go,” said Badger coach Gordon Allured.
Against Kellogg, Hoisington led in scoring with 10, including four from the foul line, and 5-foot-10 junior Colton Telford added 8. Parker scored the lone 3-pointer.
“We are struggling offensively,” Allured said. “We just can’t seem to put the ball in the basket even on lay-ins. We make our lay-ins and we win by 10. It’s really frustrating.”
