A fire believed to be set by bottle rockets on Sunday broke out on Riverside Road in the field across from the tennis courts along the banks of the Kootenai River.

Boundary County Sheriff’s want to remind people that fireworks which explode or fly are illegal in the state and if caught it can result in being ticketed and fined.  Serious charges can occur if illegal firework use results in a fire causing property damage or injury, according to Boundary County Sheriff Chief Deputy Rich Stephens.

“Roman candles, sparklers, and any fireworks with the ‘Safe and Sane’ logo on them are typically okay,” said Stephens.  “It is a really dry year, law enforcement can not condone illegal fireworks, and ask that people keep in mind the fire danger when using all fireworks.”
