Glenn M. Mastre, 70, passed away at his home near Bonners Ferry on June 25, 2009.

Dad was born on December 15, 1938 in Grafton, ND to Gustaf and Alma Amoth Mastre the tenth child of twelve.  He went home peacefully on June 25, 2009 at his home in Bonners Ferry after an extended illness.

After moving a few times, his family settled in Bonners Ferry in 1948 when dad was 9 years old.  He went to schools at the Sheridan School, Valley View School and Bonners Ferry High School.

He worked in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Roseburg, Oregon and while in Roseburg he met Carol Jones.  The two were married in Coeur d’Alene on May 10, 1961.  They moved back to Bonners Ferry where he worked at the Dicks Brother Mill.

He then went to work for Joe Figgins managing a hog farm.  They were blessed with three children; Stephen Glenn October 7, 1961, Brian Tod June 20, 1963, and Deanna Rae August 15, 1965.

After working on the hog farm, dad decided to try logging, working in all aspects of the industry.  He Owned and operated his own logging truck (rumored to be the fastest truck in the County!!) until a log rolled off his truck and hit him.  He drove truck for five years after this accident until he realized that he could not continue doing so safely.

Dad loved the outdoors and spent every spare moment doing something out doors.  Many people claimed that he had the best looking lawn in the county.

Dad enjoyed hunting for elk and white tail deer in the fall, and fishing for rainbow trout in his favorite fishing holes on the Moyie River in the summer.  He shared his love of hunting and fishing with his children and many of his friends.

Dad also enjoyed raising Quarter Horses, gardening and telling stories of his childhood.  His children would sit for entire evenings listening to these stories about the good ol’ days.
