Boundary County Art Association named Debbie Aaron its Artist of the Month.

Aaron began painting 18 years ago, studying with the late Katherine Haynes. Aaron paints images from nature.

As a youngster, she loved dreaming up things to make and then made them.

“My parents were always a great source of encouragement and support,” Aaron said. “They honored creativity themselves and provided me with man opportunities to nurture my own creative impulses.”

In addition to drawing and painting from an early age, Aaron played piano and guitar and now plays the dulcimer. She learned to sew and crochet in grade school and to spin and weave in high school.

Later, Aaron began to work with stained glass, beading and basketry.

As a young mother she found other ways to express herself. Dinner became a new medium in which to work and the garden a living sculpture.

Aaron’s painting are for sale. She also has small prints, note cards, book makers and magnets feature original material. Ten percent of sales go to the Bonners Ferry High School scholarship fund.
