Gordon W. Scott, 80

Gordon W. Scott, 80, entered into rest on Sunday, July 5, 2009, in Bellingham, Wash.

Gordon was born Sept. 26, 1928, in Bonners Ferry to Warren B. and Emma Thompson Scott. He graduated high school in Colville, Wash., and attended University of Idaho in Moscow on a music scholarship.

Gordon entered the Army on Oct. 4, 1946, and was discharged in Feb. 16, 1948, with the Word War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Occupation Medal for Japan. He enlisted once again for the Korean Conflict on Nov. 14, 1956, and was discharged as a Sgt. Tech. E5.

Gordon was an avid flyer and flight instructor, and a self-taught organ, guitar and harmonica player. He also enjoyed singing and had a beautiful tenor voice.

Gordon was an accomplished pinochle and bridge player and a director of the Bellingham Duplicate Bridge Club for many years.

He was also a semi-pro bowler while in his 20s.

Gordon was a spiritual man, baptized in the Presbyterian Church and loved Jesus.

He will be remembered most for his great storytelling, sense of humor, generosity, compassion, charming and charismatic personality, and musical abilities.

Gordon is survived by his son, Brian W. Scott; daughters, Lori Jo (Steve) Allison and Leni Jo (Kurt) Blondheim, all of Bellingham; brothers Warren Scott of Bonners Ferry, and Harvey and Duane Scott, both of Colville; sisters Lois Hoskins of San Francisco and Lucille Robey of Arizona; grandchildren Dustin and Derek Allison, Tyler Jessica Fenton, and Jake and Samuel Blondheim; and great-grandchildren Colton and Avery Allison.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents in 1959; son, Gordon Guy Scott in 1953; brother, Ray Scott in 1987 and sister Marie Macomber in 2009.

Jerns Funeral Chapel in Bellingham handled arrangements.
