Vote against fire taxing district

| July 30, 2009 9:00 PM

The volunteer fire associations are to commended and supported.  Thank you!

But the fire districts should not be put on tax rolls.  The solution for increasing high taxes, more government and less individual responsibility is not more government, but less government.

If property owners do not want to join your association, why do you want to force them to?  Is the forced confiscation and collection of money through property taxes you view of right?

If you are called out to a non-member fire, by law you can collect for your services.  Is this not reasonable? Why do you want to collect from those who do not want to have your services?

If you are concerned with fairness, your upcoming vote should include all property owners wherever they live; it is their property, not yours.

Government is by its nature takes little or no responsibility and an excessive amount of funds to complete its pretended task.

Fires will continue to burn with or without the taxing district; the only difference is that the private association now will become a bureaucratic entity fueled by the forced collection.  (Property taxes) A tax increase is a pay cut.  We do not need any more government or taxes.

Thomas Jefferson said, “Government is like fire, a dangerous servant and a fearful master.”  We need neither of these.

Vote no for the Curley Creek taxing fire district.
