Bids are sought from contractors interested in building a new station for South Boundary Fire District in Naples.

The deadline to submit a bid is Tuesday, June 30, said fire chief Tony Rohrwasser.

The developer of a 42-lot Meadows at Fall Creek subdivision on Highland Flats Road in Naples had promised to build a station for the fire department. Low sales of the 5- to 7-acres lots resulted in Sandpoint developer Gary Williams giving the land to the department without a new station.

Rohrwasser has learned there is federal stimulus money for building fire stations in progress. South Boundary has had drawings for the station available since early 2006. The slab and utilities have been installed.

Rohrwasser must turn in the grant application by July 10. Grants will be awarded in September.

For information, Rohrwasser can be reached at 267-8052.
