Will Celebrate Anniversary

Acme Lodge No. 15, Knights of Pythias, will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the founding of the order at Kent’s Hall at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19.  Members of the order will entertain 200 people.

The arrangements for the celebration are in the hands of a reception committee composed of A. J. Kent, W. H. Richardson, Tom Hollinger and G.W. Spoerry.

The entertainment provided for the evening will be a basketball game between members of the local Knights of Pythias Lodge.  One team will be called the Damons.  C.W. Megquire is the captain; H.A. Gale and W.D. Baxter will be forwards; W.L. Kinnear and W. P.  DeWolf will be guards.  J.A. Worley will be captain of the Pythias  with W.O. Rosebaugh, A.J. Kent and  R. Gray as guards.  Both captains will play center.

A string of substitute players include some 48 members of the local order.  G.W. Spoerry will referee the game; W.P. Mahoney will act as time-keeper.  Dr. E.E. Fry, A. May and Tom Nicholson will be scorekeepers, and H.S. Remer will preserve the peace.  Last but not least, Dr. Stauffer has been officially appointed to care for the wounded in battle.

The first part of the evening will consist of an address of welcome by G.W. Spoerry and moving pictures of the scenes having to do with the story of Damon and Pythias and also stereopticon views illustrating how D. Reuch became a K.P.

The committee in charge will provide a good lunch.  It is but little wonder that the local Knights of Pythias and their friends are looking forward to the evening of Feb. 19.

Elite Cafe Changes Hands

The Elite Cafe, which opened here over a year ago by J.H. Peterson, will change hands tomorrow.  Mrs. A.C. Adams, who will be remembered as proprietor of the West Hotel two years ago, will be taking charge.

Mr. and Mrs. Peterson have leased the Garrisou Place on the Northside and expect to enjoy the pleasures of fruit growing and chicken raising for a while.

Mrs. Adams has been engaged in the restaurant and hotel business for many years and will no doubt have good success in her new venture.

Bridge Contracts are Let

This week county commissioners let contracts for two steel bridges on the Eastport-Addie Road for $7,970 and on the Sandpoint-Bonners Ferry road for $2,264.  The successful bidder was the J.H. Forbes Co., Ltd., of Caldwell.  There were a dozen bids ranging between $11,000 and $12,000.  The span of the Pack River Bridge is 60 feet, and the two Moyie bridges at Eastport are 175 feet.
