Roy N. Gross

Roy N. Gross passed away Friday, June 19, 2009, at Boundary Community Hospital in Bonners Ferry.

Services will be held 11 a.m. today, June 25, at First Baptist Church in Bonners Ferry.

Roy was born Aug. 30, 1937, in Bonners Ferry to Edwin and Malma Gross. He grew up in Bonners Ferry with his five brothers and two sister.

Roy received his education through the Boundary County schools.

He later served in the U.S. Army from February 1957 to February 1963.

On November 12, 1966, Roy married the love of his life, the former Marie Scott in Couer d' Alene. They remained in Bonners Ferry and raised their five children.

Roy loved spending time outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren.

Roy was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He took pride in teaching many young adults the importance of gun safety.

Roy was dedicated to the logging profession. He was a loyal employee to Louisiana Pacific, then Anderson Logging Road Building-Idaho Granite Works.

Roy is survived by daughters Valerie Gross and her fiancé, Milton, of Tacoma, Wash.; Teresa Gross of Lewiston, and Tracy Gross of Bonners Ferry; sons Corey Gross of Pullman, Wash., and Casey Gross of Bonners Ferry; grandchildren Shawn, Derrick, Elijah and Brandon; sister-in-Iaws Janna Sohl of Spokane, Wash., Glenda (Scotty) Weholt of Hayden and Tina Bright of Bonners Ferry; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife; daughter Vicki; parents; brothers Duane, Edwin, Lennis, Meryle and Myron; and sisters Maxine and Lorraine (Anny).
