George H. White, 88

George H. White, 88, of Moyie Springs died Friday, March 13, 2009, at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene.

George was born Aug. 26, 1920, in Neck City, Mo., to Josie Nash and Blaine E. White Sr.

The family moved to Kellogg, where George went to school and then to work in the mines.

He married the former Margaret Buck in February 1939 in Bonners Ferry. In 1942, they moved to Moyie Springs. Margaret passed away in 1960.

In 1961, George married Kathleen Cowley. They enjoyed hunting, fishing, huckleberry picking and traveling. Kathleen passed away in 1989.

George also enjoyed the senior center and its members.

He is survived by his son Tom in Moyie Springs; sister Valdie Burkholder in Bonners Ferry; stepsons Tom Roy Cowley and his wife, Virginia, in Bonners Ferry and Mike Cowley and his wife, Sandy, in Coeur d’Alene; stepdaughter Diana Trice and her husband, Paul, of Woodland, Wash.; two granddaughters, six step-grandchildren; step-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dewey and Blaine Jr. and sister Ethel.

Memorials can be donated to the Senior Hospitality Center in Bonners Ferry.

A lunch will be held in George’s memory at noon Saturday, March 28, at United Methodist Church.
