Badgers golf takes 3rd at state

 The Bonners Ferry Badger boys golf team won a trophy for the first time in history at the 3A 2009 State Golf Tournament on  Monday and Tuesday in Idaho Falls.

The Badgers placed third.

Junior Carey Reynolds and senior Dillon Deitz were among the top seven scorers.  Renolds placed sixth with a score of 165 and Deitz placed seventh with a score of 166.

Others who participated were Derek Deitz who scored 187, Aaron Moe with 189 and Derrick Alt had a 186.

The golf team advanced to the state tournament in the past but had never qualified for the second day of play until last year.

"I'm very proud of them," said athletic director Ted Reynolds.
