Writer disagrees

I disagree with Steve Tanner’s demeaning editorial in the Nov. 5 Bonners Ferry Herald, regarding Commissioner Ron Smith.

I have sat through many commission meetings and have not yet seen inappropriate conduct by any of the commissioners. I have witnessed malcontent behavior by some meeting attendees forcing the chairman to take action in order to control the meeting — and rightly so.

Steve Tanner’s personal attacks on Ron Smith are untenable. Commissioner Smith has, for many years, given generously to Boundary County, not only as a very good county commissioner, but as county sheriff and as an energetic supporter of our schools.

Community members like Commissioner Smith help to make Boundary County a great place to live and why we should be so proud of our county. I am very grateful to Ron Smith and what he has done to better our community.
