Weecycle consignment store opening Dec. 1
Weecycle Children’s Clothing and Consignment will open downstairs in the Bonner Port Building on Tuesday, Dec. 1.
Owner Kim Casey said a need in this area and the economy is why she decided to open the store.
“There is a huge need for a place like this,” said Casey.
Casey moved to Bonners Ferry from Anchor Point, Alaska, with her husband Dunavon and daughter Victoria, 17, and son Avery 11, 5 1/2 years ago. Another daughter, Betty Jean, 4, arrived soon after.
No stranger to dressing children, Casey said because kids grow out of things so quickly most clothing and furniture is left is good condition.
“I don’t like to pay retail and there was nothing around,” she said. And it was hit and miss at the thrift stores and when I had Betty Jean, if I could have bought things used, I would have been so grateful.”
Weecycle will have clothing ranging in toddler sizes through older children. The store will carry gently used twin beds, cribs, play pens, car seats, high chairs and baby swings.
Weecycle sells items on consignment and the owner of the items will get 50 percent back from clothes and 60 percent on furniture sale.
“Right now we are not buying outright, but eventually we will give the option to buy outright,” said Casey.
Weecycle is taking things in season for consignment and would like more toddler boy and older boys items.
“Eventually after we get started we will be able to take things out of season but for now we are only taking winter things,” said Casey.
Weecycle is geared up for children to relax in a bean bag chair and watch cartoons and draw on a chalk board while parents are shopping.
Weecycle has some new items at low prices including , back packs, boys’ and girls’ socks, winter tights and some outfits.
Weecycle’s hours will be 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
