Bonners Ferry man produces, re;eases film Wolfpeople

“Wolfpeople,” a feature-length horror/thriller filmed in Kootenai and Bonners counties and produced by a Bonners Ferry man, has been released.

“Years in development, this movie is the first in what is hoped to be many feature movies that will be produced by Northwest Picture Co.,” said producer Bill Yotter, who co-owns the Coeur d’Alene company with director-writer Daryl Hammerich.

Yotter, also owner of A+ Pro On-Site computer services in Bonners Ferry, began working on the film in 2005.

“it’s interesting and you have to watch it,” he said.

The movie was shot at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene and travels north along Highway 95 to Sandpoint, Hope and Clark Fork. Filming took place at Cabinet Mountain Bar and Grill and Monarch Cafe, both in Clark Fork, before heading into the mountains west of town.

The story focuses on six college graduates who head for the Idaho mountains in a camper. They have no idea it’s going to be their last vacation.

Warned about the legendary Wolf People with some nasty canine tendencies, the students brush off the warnings as a tourist draw and continue on their way deeper and deeper into the woods, where they experience the most terrifying night of their lives, according to a news release.

Northwest Picture Co. flew in its six main actors from Los Angeles, however the balance of the talent is local, according to the news release.

The company’s next movie will be “Death Becomes You.”

“It’s another horror movie about a masquerade party with an escaped convict,” Yotter said.

Coeur d’Alene and Sandpoint are being considered as filming locations, he said.
