Guest opinion seemed self-rightous

| October 8, 2009 9:00 PM

Last week’s Guest Opinion demonstrates the kind of thinking that influenced the school board’s decision to not show President Obama’s real time address to the nation’s school children.

Trying to tie the President to historically abhorrent leaders and events without any basis in truth is fear propaganda, pure and simple. Too bad the board caved.

This birther business is getting old. If there was any evidence that President Obama was not born in the USA, this would not be coming from the likes of Glen Beck or self-proclaimed entertainer Rush Limbaugh. Real-life political opponents would’ve presented indisputable proof the minute Mr. Obama announced his candidacy. Let it go.

It seems there is a move afoot to publicly call President Obama everything except what they really want to call him and probably do in private.

I know many Christians who are fine caring people, but Christians do not corner the market on mercy, kindness, justice and honesty. To imply that they do as the writer of the guest opinion does, just seems self-righteous.
