Senior Kendra Johnson scored four goals for the Bonners Ferry Girls Soccer Team’s 6-0 home victory over Kellogg on Tuesday.

The girls are 4-2-1 in the Intermountain League and will be heading to the district playoffs.

Coach John Lindberg commended Johnson and Lady Badgers Liz Racer, Emily Pauls and Amanda Riley for a fine game against Kellogg.

“Kendra was in front of the goal when the ball was there, but it takes the 10 in the mix (to score),” Lindberg said.

Racer and Pauls also scored.

The Lady Badgers earned their goals in the 7th, 13th, 16th, 29th, 55th and 79th minutes. Bonners Ferry out shot Kellogg 19 to 6.

“I think the girls played a very good offensive and defensive game,” Lindberg said.

In other action, the Lady Badgers lost 5-0 to Newport on Monday. In the non-conference game, Newport out shot Bonners Ferry 18 to 8. Lady Badger keeper Samantha Schmitz had 6 saves to Newport’s 3.

The Lady Badgers also lost 4-0 to Lakeland’s varsity squad.

“I believe Lakeland’s varsity was a lot stronger than this Newport team,” Lindberg said. “We just didn’t show up for this game (against Newport).”
