Bonners Ferry High School Girls Volleyball Team will host its final home game of the season at 7:30 p.m. today, Oct. 15.

Senior players will be recognized.

Bonners Ferry was 2-9 overall and 2-5 in the Intermountain League.

In recent action, Bonners Ferry fell to Timberlake 15-25, 23-25, 25-20, 22-25.

Schneider led with 11 assists in the team’s loss to Newport.

Match scores were 14-25, 13-25, 19-25.

Schneider andErickson each had 6 digs, Watt made 5 kills and Payne led with 4 blocks.

“The Badger’s volleyball team may not have the best looking win/loss record, but to say they haven’t struggled though long rallies, battled for the last point, and stood up to fight on their own home turf, would be a severe understatement,” said coach Janis Tucker.

The Intermountain League consists of five teams, four of which have the ability to win on any given night, Tucker said.

“In the past week the Badgers fought tough losses with Newport and Priest River, once again,” she said. “Having struggled, endured and persisted through these matches, the Badgers will be prepared to fight when it most matters, at districts.”

The Lady Badgers Volleyball may take on grievance from those simply opening the newspaper to check the results, but to those who cheer in the stands, most can see a team full of heart, wanting nothing more than to beat their opponent, Tucker said.

This determination will give them a leg up on the other teams who merely rely on talent to carry them along, she said.

Long lost rivals gather together to play for the district title and a trip to state on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Bonners Ferry will continue working hard in the next few weeks to prepare for volleyball war — a last chance for the seniors to prove themselves-to take a stand to their opponents, Tucker said.
