Boys soccer team plays Teton today in state tourney

Bonners Ferry High School Boys soccer team earned a trip to the state tourney after defeating St. Maries 1-0 in the title District I 3A match.  

The Badgers will play its first game in the 3A tournament at 11 a.m. today.  The Badgers who were District 1 champions, will face District 6 champs Teton in Caldwell.         

The Badger Boy’s Soccer Team returns to the State 3A Tournament after winning the District 1-2 championship Saturday. 

The Badgers defeated St. Maries 1-0 in the title match on a goal in the 27th minute from sophomore Andre Zarate.  Bonners had several more chances to put the game away with a second goal, but were unable to convert. 

The Lumberjacks created a few scoring opportunities late in the game, but were turned back each time by the Badger defense.

In the first round of the district tournament on Friday, Bonners Ferry easily dispatched of Priest River 6-0.  Zarate tallied two goals, Alex Mendez and Daniel Palacios each had a goal and an assist, and Carey Reynolds and David Morton each found the back of the net as the Badgers rolled.  Bonners outshot the Spartans 17-1.
