Girls soccer team earns spot at state tourney

Bonners Ferry High School Girls Soccer team advanced to the state tournament after  going 1-1 at the District 1 3A tourney.

The Lady Badgers will play Snake River at 1 p.m. today, Oct. 22, in Caldwell. 

The match between Bonners Ferry and Timberlake, the two top Intermountain League teams on the first day of the district tournament, ended with the Lady Badgers holding a 4-2 lead in the shootout after  double overtime ended with neither team scoring.  Emily Pauls scored one point int he first 17 minutes of the game.  In the shootout Pauls, Kendra Johnson, Amanda Riley and Kna Wasmer scored four shootout points and Timeberlake made two and tied the game 2-2.

Later in the day the Lady Badgers lost to 2-1.

Kendra Johnson scored three minutes into the game giving Bonners Ferry a 1-0 lead.

Orofino also advanced to state.
