Tucked Away in downtown Bonners Ferry will be closing its doors at the end of the month.

Helen Chase and daughter Stephanie Chase have co-owned the downtown store for over two and a half years.

“We decided to close when Stephanie’s massage business really started taking off,” said Helen Chase.  “Stephanie wanted to open her massage therapy shop one more day, and I am retired and didn’t want to pick up that day,” she said. It didn’t make any sense with this economy to hire someone so we decided it was time.”

Helen Chase said the community has been wonderfully supportive over their years in business and is grateful.

“We opened the business in hopes to make friends, serve the community and meet people, and we have done that and enjoyed it” she said.

Helen Chase said Piper the shop’s cat is a loner and doesn’t like to be around a lot of other cats so Helen and Stephanie have other cats and could not take her home.  The two were able to find Piper a good home where she is the only cat.

Piper is scheduled to have her second surgery soon and Helen wanted to let the community know she and Stephanie will be paying the bill with the generous donations received from the concerned citizens of Piper.

Tucked away is having on ongoing sale throughout the end of the month and everything including display cases and merchandise, has to go.

After the shop closes, Helen Chase plans on volunteering for the Boundary County Museum. Stephanie Chase looks forward to having more time to participate in school activities with her daughter, Ana.
