Abraham gets six months in prison

Nicole Abraham plead guilty to a probation violation on Tuesday and was sentenced to six months retained jurisdiction.

A retained jurisdiction means the 24-year-old has the opportunity to come before the court after six months to have her progress evaluated. The court then determines if the rest of Abraham’s sentence should be completed, or if she has learned her lesson and can have her sentence reduced.

Abraham received the same sentence for violating her probation for supplying 16-year-old James “Jimmy” Wylie of Bonners Ferry with the drugs that led to his death on Dec. 12, 2006. She served six months in prison and was placed on probation after being released in November 2008 for good behavior.

Judge Patrick Luster told Abraham this sentence did not guarantee probation after she serves the six months. He told her after six months, he will review the report. He said would not accept anything less than a great report and he wasn’t sure yet what he will do after the six months but has time to think about it.
