Thelma Jean Chersin, 73

  Thelma Jean Chersin, 73, passed away at her home near Bonners Ferry, Idaho, on Aug. 30, 2009, after an extended illness. 

    Graveside services will be held Saturday, Sept. 5 at 2 p.m. at Grandview Cemetery, Bonners Ferry.

 Jean was born on June 7, 1936, in Carmel, Ind., to Charles and  Anna Lucille (Lancaster) Miller. She was raised on a farm in Indiana and loved horses. In her younger years, she rode horses competitively. She married Andrew Chersin on Oct. 13, 1955, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jean was very charitable and gave to many causes. 

She graduated from Sonoma State University and retired from Pacific Bell Telephone Co. as a Computer programmer.

Jean loved the spacious outdoors and surrounding wild life which brought her to Idaho.      

Survivors include five children: Linda Louise Caruso, Edward Allen Jackson, David Lee Chersin, Andrew Joseph Chersin III, and Debra Jean Vasquez; one brother, Dale Miller; four sisters: Shirley Mahan, Naomi Dorsey, Barbara Lee Drye  and Mary Hazel Swann. She also is survived by 20 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Chersin, and brother Richard Miller.
